Did you know waste audit support may be claimable under insurance?
Preparing an audit response to a regulator can often be a big job. Just to begin with, there’s documentation to pull together and requirements to go through, not to mention the fact that a staff member needs to dedicate time away from their work to focus on addressing this. To complicate matters further, this is something that requires a level of expertise in an area that not everyone is thoroughly familiar with.
But the stress of preparing a suitable audit response can easily be handed over to an expert to handle, and yes – this support is often covered under insurance policies – as Audit cover.
In 2018, Lacey supported Upper Hunter Shire Council with their EPA NSW waste levy audit response, which led to this being a critical part of Resource Hub’s service offering. Over the years Resource Hub has supported many audit responses, where insurance recovery was often overlooked as an option. Resource Hub is currently supporting a QLD facility with their audit response, and to say they were excited to hear that they could recoup some of the fees from both our work and that of their other consultants is an understatement!
This means there is no business interruption necessary, and no need for crucial staff to be pulled away from their jobs to fight through mountains of paperwork. With the knowledge that the extra costs will be in part offset – what better reasons to get a helping hand?
Make sure you check your current coverage though, and chat to your insurer about the nitty-gritty, as Audit Insurance can either be standalone, or rolled into other policies.
And if you would like to discuss how we might be able to assist you with your next audit response, please reach out, we would love to help.
