When was the last ti

When was the last time your gatehouse team got training that was actually about their day?

Not a slide deck. Not a room to fall asleep in. A conversation about the real customers who roll up to the boom gate, the questions they ask, and the moments where a quick word at the window can change how someone sorts their load.

That’s what we spent our time on with the gatehouse and landfill team at Mid-Western Regional Council in Mudgee. The focus was everyday gatehouse work: customer service, managing expectations, and spotting the waste education opportunities that sit right at the point of sale.

Most of the session was Q&A, built around the team’s own scenarios. Many of them told us they’d never been through training like it.

Like most regional councils, Mid-Western has a lot of jobs and not many hands. Their coordinator was out measuring pond levels in the middle of training, then sent through her own notes afterwards so we could keep building on what the team raised. That’s the next piece of work, and it’s exactly how we like to do it.

Honourable mention to the training venue, which doubled as the ironing room for the social enterprise on site. First time we’ve run a session beside a collar ironing board 🤗

Where should the nex

Where should the next piece of waste infrastructure go? And will there be enough material to feed it?

Those are the questions Recovered Energy Developments is working through as they assess future infrastructure opportunities, and we’re pleased to be helping them answer them.

Resource Hub will be providing high-level waste market analysis and strategic advice to support the team’s assessment. Our part is the on-the-ground knowledge: where the tonnes are in Queensland and northern New South Wales today, how they move, and what’s likely to change.

Welcome aboard, Recovered Energy Developments. We’re looking forward to it.

Two conferences in o

Two conferences in one month? Why not?

Fresh from Brisbane, Lacey, Allard and Oscar are heading to Melbourne for Waste Expo Australia, 28 to 29 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It’s a big one: 140-plus exhibitors, 60 sessions across three stages, and a Government Lounge for the council and agency folk. It’s also free to attend, which makes it one of the easier conference approvals you’ll put in front of your manager this year.

We won’t have a stand this time, which means we’re free to roam. If you’re a council or operator in Victoria (or anywhere else, we don’t mind) and you want to talk about what’s happening at your transfer station, your weighbridge or in your levy returns, grab one of us anytime and we'll grab a coffee and talk some rubbish.

A great morning rece

A great morning recently at the Victorian Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast in Melbourne 🤗

The room heard personal leadership stories from three inspiring speakers – Joss Crawford, Claire Halsey and Dr Sarah King.

They spoke honestly about the challenges they’ve faced and the barriers being broken down for the next generation of women in our industry.

Resource Hub was proud to be a sponsor and as part of that, we hosted Fiona McAlpine from Hobart City Council and Anna Hall from Albury City Council.

Congratulations again to Gayle Sloan and the WMRR team on a fantastic turnout 🙌🏻
